Welcome! We are happy you are visiting our site to learn about us and our approach to helping families with their child care needs. We believe quality child care is essential in today’s society.
 
Little Treehouse Academy is located in Northridge and cares for toddlers as well as preschool children. We are housed in a spacious, modern building with tree shaded lawns. The outside play area includes a variety of outdoor equipment. We are located at the corner of Reseda Boulevard and Plummer Street directly behind the Jack in the Box restaurant on Reseda. We are a licensed program and our entire staff is certified by the State of California. Our staff is trained is CPR and first aid as well as pediatric CPR.

It is important to us that both children and parents look upon the time spent with us as a happy time. We want our parents to feel confident when they leave their child each day to attend to their business that their child is safe and secure and cared for by a staff that truly enjoys being with children. We are here to help busy parents in any way we can.

Our child care program is developmental and we provide children with activities that are appropriate regardless of where the child is on the developmental continuum. Children participate in many enriching experiences every day within an organized and predictable schedule so they experience the world as a wonderful place and feel safe knowing that caring adults will attend to their needs.
 
Out Toddler Center cares for children ages 1 year – 2 years. At two years of age children enter the preschool. Our school has separate rooms for two year olds, three year olds, and young fours. In addition we have a separate Pre-Kindergarten program for older fours who will enter kindergarten the following school year. We recognize how important it is that your child be prepared for kindergarten when the time comes and we put forth concentrated effort in that regard.

We provide a nutritious breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack at no additional cost to children in our care at serving times. (Our cook’s specialty is homemade chicken soup.)

We teach Early Learning Standards and teachers post a lesson plan each week which reflects the Standard Focus for each activity for classroom lessons as well as outdoor playground lessons. The plan covers all aspects of the preschool curriculum including language development,

art, music, math/numbers, letter recognition, writing, counting, etc. We have a certified music teacher on our staff who teaches all the children music in addition to the music enjoyed in their classroom.
 
Assessment of each child’s progress is ongoing and allows us to determine strengths as well as alert us to areas where extra help is needed. We monitor our plans to make certain each classroom is teaching adequately the curriculum skills needed for that age level. This ensures a solid preschool foundation which is helpful for future learning. We also emphasize the hands-on approach. The old Chinese proverb –“I hear and I forget, I see and I remember, I do and I understand”- speaks volumes as it relates to preschool children. In this regard we select all manipulative items for the children to be used during playtime to reinforce concepts being taught by the teachers. Playtime with classmates allows for self-expression and, of course, for the practice of many important social skills.

We believe an important aspect of the preschool experience is that it be fun and that the child feels successful. Entering kindergarten with the appropriate skills and believing that school is enjoyable and a “good place to be” builds not only confidence but bodes well for future initiative as well.
